THIRD GRADE-LEAD TEACHER: ELISABETH KRAEMER
This is Mrs. Kraemer’s 14th year as an educator. During that time she has taught 3rd-5th grade, and also spent 3 years as a STEM specialist for all elementary grades. This is her fourth year teaching 3rd grade at Brent Elementary. She also taught at Hyde-Addison Elementary School in Georgetown. She holds a Masters in Education, and has been rated as a Highly Effective educator every year since DCPS’s inception of the IMPACT program seven years ago. She is recognized as an “Expert Teacher” within DCPS.
Mrs. Kraemer feels there is no profession as fun and rewarding as teaching! Her goal is to engage and challenge students each day so that they grow academically and socially. She strives to provide differentiated instruction in every lesson to meet the needs of all learners. She believes it is imperative to hold all children to a high standard. Her goal every day is to push kids to meet and surpass expectations. She feels there is nothing better than watching a student grapple with content leading to an “ah-ha” moment!
Mrs. Kraemer loves being a teacher and parent in the Brent community! She lives in Capitol Hill with her husband and 3 children, Grant (currently in 2nd grade), Walker, and Chase (currently in kindergarten). Being a parent to three very active boys has helped her to see the importance of movement during the school day. She knows that if students’ bodies are sleepy, their minds become sleepy too! Last year she was awarded a grant through Action for Healthy Kids to help get students moving during the school day.
Beyond teaching in the classroom, Mrs. Kraemer is passionate about teaching kids the importance of healthy eating. She recently began an online business to help families keep track of a balanced diet. (www.mybalancebuddy.com)
Mrs. Kraemer believes a close relationship with families is vital to the success of her third graders. Any comments, concerns, or questions are welcome!
