DC Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, March 21, 2018 due to the snow emergency.
A huge thanks to the over 130 parents who completed TB testing this week in order to obtain volunteer clearances. We will conduct make-up TB tests March 13 (skin scratch) and March 16 (test reading). You must complete both parts of the test in order to proceed to fingerprinting. Testing: Tuesday, March 13 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Reading: Friday, March 16 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Heidi Johnson, a nurse practitioner with House Calls on the Hill, will conduct the TB tests. The cost will be $30. Please RSVP to Denise Diggs (denise.diggs@dc.gov) ASAP so we can make sure we have enough serum to administer the tests. Thanks to all the parents who have received their volunteer clearance from DCPS and to those who are working towards receiving their volunteer clearance. Over 80 parents signed up to get TB tests at Brent! On March 21 at 8 a.m. , the DCPS mobile fingerprinting unit will be at Brent to administer fingerprinting for a background check. Only folks with a valid TB test will get fingerprinted. Please remember, all field trip chaperones must have a current DCPS volunteer clearance.
DCPS is launching the Panorama Survey to measure social-emotional
learning (SEL), school climate and satisfaction across students in grades 3-12, staff and families. Through this survey, we want to hear from families about what’s working well and how we can continue to improve our schools. The Panorama survey will be administered from March 5 – March 18, 2018. You will receive the survey by email or mail. Please contact your school if you have not received a survey by March 5. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school (Denise Diggs at denise.diggs@dc.gov) or Elizabeth Kim at panoramasurvey@dc.gov (202-724-4651). Thank you for your participation in this important project! Brent ES Operating Status Update - 9:10 A.M.
We just received notification from DCPS that due to the high winds, all DCPS schools are now closed. We understand there has been conflicting information about school operating status this morning. We also understand this is a rare weather event coupled with parent teacher conference day. Our Brent plan is that parent conferences currently in progress will finish. If you have not yet started your conference, it will either be rescheduled through direct communication with your classroom teacher or be offered as a phone conference. Teachers will communicate the rescheduling plan – specific to their classroom. |
