The class banners, designed by your children earlier this year, will be some of the items offered. Come get a tour of Jefferson Academy Middle School and talk to the administration and current students at one of two upcoming open houses:
The first ~45 minutes of both open houses will be a discussion with representatives from the administration and current students. This will be followed by a tour of the school. Prospective students and siblings of all ages are welcomes at the open houses. Members of the Brent PTA Middle School Committee and other Brent families will be present at both open houses. If you are interested in hearing more about Jefferson Academy, please let Alina Banu or Sarah Carr know. They will be coordinating some small social events to talk more about Jefferson Academy. Alina is mom to 6th and 8th grade students at Jefferson Academy as well as 3rd and Kindergarten students at Brent. There are also shadow days where your child can spent a portion of his/her day with a current Jefferson Academy student. Those are being held April 12, 19, and 21 from 9:15-11:15 am. You can sign up by calling the Jefferson front office at 202.729.3270. Please join us for the PTA General Meeting tomorrow night at 6:30 pm in the Brent multi-purpose room. At the April meeting, we will hear from Principal Young with his update, including the lottery, hear the latest from the Middle School Committee and what was in the Mayor’s Budget, get the latest on the Gala. The deep dive of the meeting will be a focus on 5th grade at Brent. Brent has a small but mighty fifth grade, and with growth expected next year we will hear from some current 5th grade parents and hear from Principal Young about his approach to the grade and how to build on the success of recent years.
Childcare, including dinner (thanks to We the Pizza) and entertainment, will be provided. Enrollment Season Has Begun! Turn in Your Child’s Enrollment Packet Today! If your child(ren) is(are) currently enrolled at Brent, your new enrollment package is attached to Tues News! If there is incorrect information on the form, please provide any updated information before turning in your enrollment package. Your completed enrollment package should consist of the following: · Enrollment Form (which must be signed and dated prior to submission) · Media Release Form · Language Survey Documents · Residency verification documents. These documents must match with the parent/guardian signing the enrollment form. · Health Certification and Oral Health Certification forms You must submit your completed enrollment package to Denise Diggs, Andrea Casula or Peter Young in the Brent front office. At the time of your enrollment, the parent/guardian who provides residency verification must sign the Sworn Statement of DC Residency. Please do not send your enrollment package in an envelope or give it to your child’s teacher, we cannot accept enrollment packages except through a direct exchange with the Brent front office staff.
