A selection process is under way to replace outgoing principal Peter Young. Three parents (and one alternate) will be selected to serve on the selection panel. Nominations for parent/guardian/caretaker are due by 8pm tonight, May 19th. Voting will take place on Monday and Tuesday. You can nominate yourself if you'd like. Nominating someone - or yourself - is easy! All you have to do is write a brief email that provides the nominees name and the grades of their children (and anticipated incoming Brent students). Then send the email to email@example.com.

A huge thank you to local business Bullfrog Bagels for their generosity in donating heaps of bagels, coffee and cream cheese for our teachers to enjoy on the first day of Teacher Appreciation week.
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
MAY 15-19 - SHOW YOUR LOVE!
Monday, May 15th is the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. It’s a chance to help your kids show their teachers why they are loved.
Thanks to PTA and generous donations from Bullfrog Bagels, &Pizza and Pret A Manger we have a nice week planned. Thanks to Gina Eppolito and Scarlett DeShaw for coordinating. Schedule:
The Spring Concerts will be on May 10 for our ECE-1st grade musicians (PTA meeting following from 7-8 pm; childcare provided) and on May 11 for our 2nd-5th grade musicians. Both concerts will start promptly at 6 PM and students are asked to arrive at 5:30 PM on their respective evenings in concert white/black.
Calling all math and science lovers! Brent’s first Math and Science Day will be held on the morning of Friday, June 9th. We are looking for parents who work and/or have interest in math and science including computers, engineering, architecture, medicine, forensics, food, exercise and behavioral science, and more to lead an activity and share about your work to small groups of students (supported by another adult). Interested in participating? Contact Whitney Paxson, Brent’s Instructional Coach for Math, at whitney. firstname.lastname@example.org. Want to participate but not sure what to do? Be in touch - we can help design an activity!
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Brent will participate in PARCC testing during the first two weeks of May. PARCC is the statewide assessment that is used to measure student-, school-, and system-level progress. 4th and 5th graders test first, beginning on Monday, May 1st and ending Friday, May 5th. 3rd graders test second, beginning Monday, May 8th and ending Friday, May 12th. (Note: Students who test in small groups may have slightly different schedules.) Testing takes place in the morning and is generally concluded by lunchtime each day. We are asking that 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families support this process in two main ways: First, please help your child to feel calm and well-rested by making sure that they have had plenty of sleep. Second, please be sure to arrive at school on time. Students who arrive after administration has begun will not be permitted to join their classes and will have to make up their tests. Since testing starts right away in the morning, it is best that everyone be present at the start of the day. Questions can be directed to Sara Ewbank, Test Coordinator, at sara. email@example.com.
Each week, Brent puts out a Tuesday Newsletter, known as the “TuesNews.” This newsletter will provide valuable school-wide information about upcoming programs, classroom highlights, weekend...
