At Back to School Night, PTA President Ben Champa talked about several options for community events that the PTA could host this fall or on a recurring basis. Because your interest in an event is vital to its success, the PTA has prepared a poll where you can let us know which of the options interest you the most. Please take the poll and rank the options, so the PTA can get started planning some fun events for the Brent community!
http://www.polljunkie.com/ poll/rnxxjd/brent-pta-fall- event Brent Back to School Night will be this Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Principal Lycknell will introduce Brent staff and discuss schoolwide initiatives. After Principal Lycknell’s presentation, parents will visit their children’s classrooms, meet the teachers, and learn about classroom goals and expectations for the year. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the upcoming year at Brent. It is an adults only event, so please plan accordingly. ASL interpreters will be provided. Dear Brent Community,
The first day of school is just hours away and we have been busy with the last details of classroom set up, construction clean up, and the thoughtful planning needed to ensure our students have a safe and joyous launch to their year! We also want to make sure you are informed about the details of the day and this letter aims to provide you with all the information you need. Even if you are a returning Brent Bear, please review these notes as some procedures have changed or are new this year. Brent’s Back to School Open House is tomorrow, Friday, August 18, from 3 – 4 p.m. Come meet new teachers, see old friends and begin to make new ones. The Brent Store is fully stocked with tee-shirts, polos, shorts and fancy new water bottles. Springboard, our after care provider, will be available to answer questions about enrolling into aftercare and electives. The school nurse can accept medications during this time and will be available to respond to to any questions. Class lists will be posted on the Brent website and on the front doors by 9 a.m. tomorrow! Learn more about your child's teacher on the Brent Staff page.
ASL Interpreters will be provided. The PTA Grounds Committee is hosting a family gardening event this Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. Please see additional details below:
Come help us spruce up Brent's green space! This Thursday night (August 17th) we will be weeding, adding new plants, and mulching Brent's grounds. We will start at 6:30pm in front of the school. Bring gloves and a trowel or shovel if you have them; those weed roots can be deep. If you have excess plants from your own garden (ground cover, perennials, and grasses seem to hold up well), please bring them along and we'll find them a new home somewhere on the school grounds. We can always use some extra top soil. If you have a bag taking up space, we'll be happy to take it off your hands and put it to good use. For the mulch, we can get it for free from DPW. There's no limit on how much mulch we can have, but we have to pick it up at Ft Totten. If you have a truck that could be used to transport mulch from Ft. Totten to Brent please contact Margaret Cooney at cooneym6@gmail.com. Once at Brent we could really use some wheelbarrows to cart the mulch around, so if you have one, please bring it along. Hope to see you there! Brent PTA's grounds committee |
