Please join us this Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for the October PTA meeting
Bring your ideas and questions for an open microphone session with the PTA. Bring your students too...the kids get free childcare and pizza during the meeting, but will need their own water bottles. Also on the agenda for Wednesday night will be Principal Lycknell talking about the upcoming parent teacher conferences and report cards and the Diversity Committee recapping Monday’s Equity Education town hall meeting with the Chancellor and Joe Weedon. If you’re curious about the status of the Annual Fund or want to know more about the Holiday Sale that’s quickly approaching, parent volunteers will be providing information about them (and offering opportunities to get involved). We hope to see you and your students this Wednesday, October 25th. If you can’t make it in person, be sure to check out the meeting via Facebook Live. The Brent Diversity Committee is proud to host a Town Hall Discussion on Equity in Education with: Chancellor Antwan Wilson and School Board of Education Representative Joe Weedon - Monday, October 23, 2017 (6-8pm) at Brent.
Join DC Public Schools Representatives in a session to discuss the upcoming construction at Jefferson Academy. Wednesday, October 25, 6:30 pm. Jefferson Academy, 801 7th Street, SW Auditorium
community_meeting_flyer.pdf We're looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow night for our 10th annual math night in the multipurpose room. Pizza will be served from 6:00-6:30, and then the games go until 7:30.
Families are free to move around the cafeteria and some first floor rooms to play math games together, engage in challenging problem solving and learn more about the Eureka Math program. Fabulous door prizes will be awarded and packets full of games will be available for every parent to take home and play. We hope you can join us tonight for family pizza night, benefitting the Brent Annual fund, at Taoti Creative's roofdeck (530 8th Street, SE) from 6-8 pm. Advance ticket sales have ended, but you can buy tickets at the door for $15/person and $35/family. Includes pizza, popcorn, water and juice. Beer/wine available for an additional donation.
With a high likelihood of rain today (Friday), we will be postponing our Outdoor Movie Night. We are still excited to host a movie night in the near future, so please stay tuned for the rescheduled date.
Dear Brent Families,
Our Brent Banner Parade will be held tomorrow, October 6th beginning at 2:45 p.m. The Brent Banner Parade is intended as a student-driven and centered event during which class identities and a symbol of diversity and unity (the banner) are put on display for the student and faculty community. This year, the Brent Banner Parade will be held outdoors so that we can share our pride within and beyond our community. Parents are welcome to attend and should follow these guidelines to make sure our students remain as the stars of the show:
Because the day is full of student excitement and events, the October Principal’s Coffee has been postponed to NEXT Friday, October 13th from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the main vestibule. Sincerely, Norah Lycknell Principal Join students, families, school leaders, community partners and mayors around the country to celebrate the benefits of walking to school during International Walk to School Day, October 4. Capitol Hill schools will meet at Lincoln Park beginning at 7:30am on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for performances, snacks, speakers, and light exercise. Each school will meet up and leave Lincoln Park to reach their school on time.
