FELLOW: MATT LARKIN
Mr. Larkin is beginning his first year of teaching as a Center for Inspired Teaching Fellow. As an Inspired Teaching Fellow, he is participating in an intensive teacher training program, which includes a year-long teaching residency at Brent and integrated graduate coursework at Trinity Washington University. Mr. Larkin holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the State University of New York, the College of New Paltz, and a master’s degree in International Affairs from American University in Washington, DC.
Prior to becoming an Inspired Teaching Fellow, Mr. Larkin supported legislative liaison activities at the Department of Defense and worked as a congressional staffer on national security issues. Other experience includes serving as an officer in the District of Columbia Army National Guard and two years teaching English as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Armenia.
Mr. Larkin has been a resident of the District for almost 20 years and is eager to make a contribution to his local community as a teacher. He lives in Hill East with his wife, Melanie, their two children, Hope and Walter, and two dogs, Hazel and Stella. When he is not spending time with the family or walking the dogs, he enjoys painting and jogging around Capitol Hill.
