The Brent Parent Teacher Association is excited to welcome you to a year of Community, Connection, and Collaboration. As we kick off the last school year in our current building, we emphasize the multitude of opportunities for Brent families to work together, build connections, strengthen our school community, and prepare for our school modernization.

Bringing families together outside the school day is a wonderful way to foster connections across the entire Brent community. The PTA plans many events and activities, including the Welcome Back Fall Picnic, Family Heritage Night, teacher appreciation efforts, community service opportunities, community meetings and more. Your participation in PTA activities is critical to our success in building and maintaining a strong school community. If you have ever considered getting more involved, this is the year to do it. Time commitments vary widely. We would love to help you find a role that fits your interests.

• Room Parents: Consider being a Room Parent, the vital connection between class families, teachers, and the PTA.
• Community Meetings: All parents and caregivers of Brent students are invited to attend quarterly PTA Community Meetings, which is our time to share information and have open discussions. We provide free childcare and pizza dinner for students! The first meeting will be Wednesday, October 23rd at 6 pm in the Brent multipurpose room.
• School Community Teams: Parent and caregiver volunteers are needed for many activities that enhance the Brent school community, including Birthday Board, Uniform Swap, Lost & Found, the Brent Store, Teacher Appreciation, Yearbook & School Pictures, and Special Events (Game Night, Skate Night, Family Heritage Night and more).
• Fundraising Teams: The PTA funds nearly 100% of Brent’s non-personnel expenses - over $332,000! - which enables our school to focus DCPS-provided funds on teachers and academic excellence. Help us reach our fundraising goals by helping with the Holiday Tree Sale, the Gala and Auction, or the Annual Fund and Sponsorships.
