Tuesday, February 28 is the kickoff of the 2023 PTA Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is the largest fundraiser of the year, typically generating half of what the PTA spends to support Brent Elementary. Lasting 15 days, this drive will be the main way we raise money for our school.
What do Brent PTA funds pay for? Nearly 100% of Brent's non-personnel operating costs! That's over $266,000 per year - or over $600 per student - and includes building and grounds maintenance, teacher development, technology and school supplies, community engagement events, social-emotional support programs for the children, and more.
Since PTA money covers all these fundamental operating expenses, Brent can use allocated DCPS funds to add more teachers to the classroom. That means more focus teachers, better student-to-faculty ratios, and a direct impact on education.
Our goals for the 2023 campaign are $110,000 raised and 100% household participation. Please participate today at 2023BrentAF.givesmart.com. Donations are tax-deductible.
With gratitude,
The Brent PTA
The mission of the PTA is to foster connections between parents, enable parents to be of service to the school and build a community of parents, staff and administration committed to ensuring that Brent Elementary is a high-achieving educational environment for addressing the learning challenges of all students. Your support will help us achieve our mission.
The PTA is involved in many different areas of school life, such as coordinating room parents, organizing the Annual Spring Gala, and faculty appreciation events. There are always opportunities to volunteer and get involved. As a Brent parent and member of the PTA, you make these things happen. Take a look at our PTA event calendar to see our programs and events.
The PTA Board is composed of elected officers, teacher liaisons and the school principal. All PTA Board meetings are open to the Brent community. All PTA Board and school-wide meeting dates are posted on the calendar. PTA meetings are generally held on Wednesdays and start at 6:30 pm. All general meetings include childcare paid for by the PTA.
